Due to the increasing reduction of global energy reserves, we have turned to the use of alternative energies to actively contribute to the preservation of our environment. In 2005, we already built a biogas plant that covers 100% of our heating requirements through the gasification of renewable raw materials.

Each year, 20,000,000 kWh of electricity is produced. This corresponds to the energy needs of 5,000 households. As a result, CO2 emissions, a harmful greenhouse gas, are reduced by 13,000 tons annually.

We also supply heat to the Linderner School and the swimming pool. Furthermore, in 2008, we began generating energy through photovoltaics. Photovoltaic systems are installed on the roofs of our facilities.

The biogas plant generates biogas within a regional value chain from the following raw materials:

• Renewable raw materials

• Corn silage

• Poultry manure

Activities in the operational area include:

• Storage of biomass in the form of silages or organic fertilizers

• Removal of biomass and addition to the fermentation process (pre-pits, fermenters)

• Pumping processes between input systems, fermenters, post-fermentation, and storage tanks

• Interim storage of fermented residues

• Biogas generation in a gas-tight fermentation system

• Intermediate storage of generated biogas in the gas storage system

• Power generation from biogas in combined heat and power units

• Use of heat for heating the fermenters/post-fermenters

• Supply of external heat consumers

Amount: 29,500 m³, which corresponds to 38,360 kg at a density of 1.30.
