We are back after 5 successful days at the trade fair. It was a complete success - we brought back many new customers, new impressions and also a little tiredness. We were most excited about our new trade fair stand.

September 2023 - Visit to vocational school

Yesterday we had a visit from our trainee Ariane's vocational school class. She and her classmates are currently in their second year of training to become food technology specialists. Divided into three groups, the students and their teacher were able to gain an insight into our entire company and the individual production steps.

After these impressions and a short question and answer session, there was of course a little refreshment at the end. Thank you for your visit!

September 2023 - Visit

As part of the Lower Saxony Calf Initiative, an excursion was offered to us in Lindern.

Yesterday, the time had finally come... around 20 participants made their way to us. At 10:00 a.m. we welcomed them to our company premises. After a short company presentation by our boss Jens Bahlmann, the participants were then able to get an impression of our calf fattening, the feed factory, as well as the slaughter and cutting. After all the impressions, there was a little refreshment and a break in which any open questions could be clarified or discussed.

JUNE 2023 - Remmers-Hasetal Marathon

This weekend the well-known “𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀-𝗛𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗩𝗳𝗟 𝗟𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻” finally took place again.

Of course, we couldn’t miss this opportunity and took part in the EWE company relay.

Despite the very high temperatures, we didn't do too badly... 9th place!!!!!!

We had a beautiful but also exhausting day, which was of course celebrated appropriately afterwards.

Over a certain period of time (at least 30 days), the meat, in our case from selected German heifers, is matured with a suitable fat cover and an optimal muscle-fat distribution (marbling) at controlled temperature, humidity, air movement and air quality. This breaks down certain tissue structures that make the meat particularly tender. At the same time, the meat loses moisture and forms a protective shell on the outside that protects the meat inside. As the saying goes - tough on the outside, soft on the inside!

𝗝𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘁, 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗸.

You can then follow the entire process in our shop and watch your meat go through the individual refinement stages. In addition, the cuts are provided with a slate board that states exactly how long the meat has been maturing and who we are maturing it for.

After a short forced break, we were finally able to present our donation to the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern yesterday! All proceeds from the sale of the carrier bags in our Bahlmann shop were again 100% donated to the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern. With a donation total of around €640.00, we are sure that there will be another great surprise for the children.

SEPTEMBER 2022 - May we introduce?

True to the motto “Everything is fine!”, today we want to give you an insight into the everyday life of our sales team and our scheduling department.
Drinking coffee, gossiping and chatting or constantly on the phone - these are characteristics that women are always associated with, right?😜 Things are completely different with us. Our sales team, which consists of "only" men, has these characteristics as soon as you enter the office, because it's never quiet there - just kidding.😉 In addition to sales talks, acquiring new customers, visiting customers, and negotiating prices and making calculations, you can also find the team at trade fairs such as Anuga. There, everyone is greeted by their personal contact and can answer any questions they have or place their next order.
Sales usually take place in the morning so that orders can be processed and handled in the afternoon. Depending on the order and customer request, an order is created and entered. This is then automatically forwarded to production and scheduling. This creates a faster and more efficient process.
While the goods are being produced and packaged, our colleagues Hartmut and Lena from the dispatch department prepare everything for onward transport to the customer. Part of their daily routine is also coordinating and planning tours, going through the plans with the drivers and checking the trucks that are currently in our yard.
As you can see, this is all about organizing and communicating. Otherwise everything wouldn't run so smoothly.😊
So it is also just right that our sales team sits in the same office as the dispatcher, so that the "routes" are kept short. For example, you can ask when the customer can be delivered while he is still on the phone. And did you know that for certain orders the sales team even goes into production themselves and selects the goods for the respective customer?🥰 As the saying goes, the customer is always king.👑

After quite a long wait, the time finally came at the beginning of the week!
Our long-awaited “𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲” has arrived and is now being assembled by external specialists.

Crate washing? What is that?
In our industry, it is common practice for cuts from dismantling to be stored and transported in so-called E2 crates. This means that when the crates are returned from the customer, the first thing they do is pass through our crate washing system.
And why did we invest?
To work even more hygienically, efficiently and economically.
Over a length of 28m there are pre-wash and main wash zones, rinsing zones and drying, which give us the opportunity to optimise exposure times and thus save a lot of water.
1000 crates are washed per hour and then automatically transported to our crate warehouse. Thanks to their low water and energy consumption, we are also able to reduce our operating costs.
Our crate washing system also has a small special extra – an integrated label removal system.
This way we can guarantee that all adhesive residues can be removed without leaving any residue.
By using two integrated heat exchangers we can extract even more heat from the biogas plant
and further significantly improve our CO2 balance.

Yesterday we had a class from the BBS visit the Museumsdorf Cloppenburg

The trainees are at the end of their second year of training as office management clerks.
During the tour, the trainees/teachers were able to gain an impression of our company
and of course ask a lot of questions.
Maybe we will see one or the other again very soon,
but this time as a colleague

JUNE 2022 - DÜSSER DAIRY FARM DAYS

𝐀𝐮𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐬 – 𝐟𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐬” was the motto of the “𝐃ü𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐜𝐡𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞” event last Wednesday and Thursday.

The event has been taking place every two years for over 20 years at the Agricultural Research and Education Center in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Many farmers from neighboring states were there to find out about the latest developments in dairy farming. We also took part in this event and set up a small stand right at the entrance. In the best weather, our colleague Frank and our agricultural dealer Rensing were able to answer all of the farmers' questions about feed.

JUNE 2022 - EMPLOYEE PRESENTATION

Today we would like to introduce you to Thomas Wielenberg, our operations manager for the disassembly/vacuum department. Here, together with Heiner Jakoby, he is responsible for around 80 employees.

Thomas has been part of our team since 2007. After completing his training as a butcher, he initially worked in our slaughterhouse. In 2010, he then obtained his master's degree and took on the position of foreman.

His daily tasks include checking the meat cuts, hygiene checks and personnel planning.

But that's not all, when it comes to new products/food trends, Thomas is involved with heart and soul.

And if you’re wondering how the meat gets to our Bahlmann shop, he takes care of that too.

Thomas is also responsible for our trainees. With a lot of commitment and passion, he accompanies our trainees throughout their entire training to become food technology specialists.

For Thomas, his job is not just a job, but a calling. He is always there to help and advise everyone, and even when the need arises, he helps wherever he can and even stands with his colleagues on the assembly line.

Thank you, dear Thomas, for giving us an insight into your everyday life.

JUNE 2022 - OPEN FARM DAY

In perfect summer weather, the "𝐓𝐚𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬" finally took place again on Sunday.

Many farms from Lower Saxony took part and gave everyone interested an insight into agriculture.

We were also there with a small stand in the courtyard of the 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐡𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐞.

Of course, if you were a little hungry, we had our delicious Bahlmann veal sausage.

Our employee Patrick and our trading partner Henning Bramstedt were available to listen to all visitors and answered all questions about animal feed.

SEPTEMBER 2021 - Danube Silphie

Do you still remember?

About a year ago we visited Klaus Block & his “Donau Silphie”.

Last week we were there again and noticed once again how beautifully the “Danube Silphie” presents its golden yellow blossoms on our land.

In 2017 we started with around 30,000 m² of land (approx. 4.2 football fields) and in the last 4 years we have been able to expand our land to around 130,000m² (approx. 18.5 football fields). We think that is already a considerable size - but we do not rule out that it will be several more m² in the coming years.

The Danube Silphium will be harvested in mid-September, i.e. in the next 14 days. We can then use the silage to generate electricity in our biogas plant and meet our demands for climate protection and environmentally friendly biogas.

We are proud to be able to make a small/big contribution.

In July we had a small competition on our Facebook & Instagram page.

The prize was our "Bahlmann Burger Grill Box". Two winners were drawn, who also came to us in person to collect their prize.

Visit to the BBS Nordhorn Agricultural College

Yesterday we were finally able to receive visitors again after a very long time.
The BBS Nordhorn -Fachschule Agrar- visited us with a total of 23 students and 2 teachers.
Divided into 3 groups, the students/teachers were able to gain an impression of our company and, of course, ask a lot of questions.
After the tour of the company, there was something for the small hunger – delicious grilled veal sausage

We had a great day and are looking forward to the next time!

JUNE 2021 - At the very beginning is the calf!

“Only strong, healthy animals reared under animal-friendly conditions guarantee the best quality meat!”

In order for a cow to produce milk for cheese and yoghurt, a calf must be born.

The dairy farmer cannot use this calf, provided it is a male – and that is where we come in!

Our calves are moving in...

Tonight, calves were again brought to our company premises.

They are delivered either by our own animal transport vehicles or by external companies.

For us that meant going to bed very late and getting up very early.

Immediately after arrival, their ear tags are scanned so that there is complete traceability - of course in a way that is gentle on the animals, quick and, most importantly, accurate! Afterwards, the calves are weighed and checked for their health. Animal welfare is our top priority. In order to ensure that the animals are as homogeneous as possible

In order to create a uniform group of calves, the animals are sorted according to weight and breed and then brought to their collection boxes.

After a short rest period – a move is a bit exciting, after all – we take the calves to our own affiliated calf fattening farms as well as to carefully selected farms nearby.

Here they can grow up in animal-friendly group housing and with feed from our own production.

The farms are supported by our experienced calf rearing company and monitored by independent institutes.

We are a bit tired from work now and need to rest...

April 2021 - Our fundraising campaign brings full bags for
the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern.

All proceeds from the sale of the carrier bags in our factory outlet were again donated 100% to the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern. The donation of 400 € will be used for a new "drift bike",

so that the little ones can really step on the gas again.

The staff at St. Michael Kindergarten were very pleased about the financial support.

We would like to thank the employees and the parents of the little ones for allowing us to come by in person despite the current situation!

April 2021 - “No one learns in the old elementary school any more.”

Mr. Scazzari, our long-standing employee, who heads the QA department in the feed mills and fattening farms as well as our in-house laboratory with a lot of passion, commitment and conscientiousness.

Before taking over this area, Mr. Scazzari was the head of the entire group in the area of quality assurance and therefore naturally brings with him a wealth of experience.

His daily tasks include regular tours of the company with a focus on hygiene, so that order and cleanliness are guaranteed at all times. He is also responsible for optimizing and maintaining the structural measures. His job is very varied and also includes preparing and carrying out audits, dealing with customer requests, complaints and documentation. At the same time, he ensures compliance with legal requirements with regard to feed, hygiene and meat inspections, and animal welfare.

If you have any problems or difficulties, Mr. Scazzari is the right person to contact,

He immediately looks for solutions and never loses sight of the economic aspect.

One thing is particularly important to Mr Scazzari: in the end, a good result always counts!

Without motivated and committed employees, quality assurance is ineffective.

Quality is the be-all and end-all and starts right at the beginning.

March 2021 - Welcome to our Bahlmann fleet

Since mid-March we are pleased to welcome our new Volvo FH460 to the Bahlmann fleet!

His driver Marco also settled in immediately and was at least as excited as the rest of us.

March 2021 - May we introduce? Hans Lüllmann

Hans Lüllmann has been working for us for over 30 years and is responsible for our subsidiary Optimin.

Optimin is Europe's most modern compound feed factory for milk replacers. In addition to milk replacers, we also supply milk powder for calves that are raised for bull fattening, as well as feed supplements for piglet rearing. In addition to the responsibility of the 6 employees, 3 of whom are truck drivers, Hans monitors the entire plant, from receiving goods to checking the raw materials and loading. This makes his job very varied and diverse. An important aspect of his work is technical understanding. Everything is generated and processed fully automatically. You should also be fit, because the 5 floors of our factory are covered on foot every day. The fantastic view from the top floor makes up for everything, though!

August 2020 - May we introduce? Klaus Block and our Danube Silphie

Klaus Block, contact person and person responsible for our arable farming and now also for our Danube Silphie.

Klaus explains:

Three years ago we started with 30,000 m² of land, today 150,000 m² (the equivalent of around 200 single-family house plots) of land are planted with Danube Silphie. Now it is fully grown and of course we don't want to deprive you of this beautiful plant. The silage of the Danube Silphie is a pure energy source that we grow instead of corn. In our biogas plant we use it to produce electricity from renewable plants.

The special thing about Silphium is that it has a really long flowering period (late June to September), at a time when there are otherwise few flowering plants available. In addition, it not only looks good and offers a beautiful landscape atmosphere, but also creates space for wildlife. These areas are also important for bees, birds and many other insects. Due to the cup-shaped leaves, Silphium also helps to provide water for insects and birds, among other things.

It only needs to be planted once and can then be harvested for up to 30 years.

We are proud to be able to make a positive contribution to biodiversity through our Danube Silphie!

January 2020 - Fundraising campaign by Bahlmann brings full bags for the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern.

In 2019, all proceeds from the sale of the carrier bags in the Bahlmann factory outlet were collected and 100% donated to the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern. These will be used to repair the bird's nest swing. Each bag sold resulted in a donation of €0.30.

The staff at St. Michael's Kindergarten were very pleased with the financial support.
Due to its great success, the tote bag campaign will be continued this year.

October 2019 - We are exhibiting! - Anuga 2019

ANUGA WE ARE COMING!

From October 5th to October 9th, 2019 you will find us at Anuga 2019 - the world's largest trade fair for food and beverages!

September 2019 - The new terrace was opened.

There was also a wall design!

Our extension, which was completed in spring 2019, created an area between the new building and the existing one. This open space was quickly converted into a terrace. A wooden floor was laid and a panoramic graffiti was created on the resulting wall by Sebastian Rolf and his team from BunteWände.

This has been very well received and shows the connection between the Bahlmann company and the community of Lindern. You can see some calves as well as the church and megalithic tombs in Lindern, and of course the windmill from Liener could not be missing from the panoramic landscape.

August 2019 - We turned 50! Our open day.

On August 25th we celebrated our 50th anniversary. At an open day we invited everyone to visit us and take a look at the production and the entire operation. In addition to numerous attractions such as bouncy castles, rodeo riding, face painting and live music, there was also cold beer and juicy veal steaks straight from the grill. We hope that all visitors had a lot of fun and that we can welcome you again in large numbers at our next anniversary.

June 2019 - Our new truck design goes on tour!

Since June 2019, the design of our refrigerated train fleet has changed. Now a beautiful veal schnitzel prepared by a chef decorates our fleet. I'm sure some of you have already spotted it in the wild. We look forward to your feedback.

April 2018 - Our skin-packaged goods & the new "Gastroline" program are launched!

In 2018, several projects have already been realized, a not insignificant part of which was supplying the food retail trade with our own skin-packaged goods. It took just under nine months from the idea to the finished product. Since February 2018, the first product phases have also been available in our factory outlet and accessible to everyone.

The "Gastroline" program was also launched in 2018. This is specifically designed for the catering and food service sectors. We give customers the option of choosing between individually packaged and bulk-packed units. This program is also available in the fresh and frozen food sectors.

March 2018 - Fundraising campaign by Bahlmann brings full bags for the St. Michael Kindergarten in Lindern.

January 2017 - Start of expansion measures

The starting signal for the operational expansion of Bahlmann GmbH & Co has been given. The aim of this project is to make the packaging and loading processes more efficient. The construction work is divided into two phases. First, a new sorting line specially developed for Bahlmann will be set up. A new empty crate warehouse will also be built on two floors, equipped with a fully automated empty crate washing system. In the next construction phase, a new cold store, including a deep-freeze warehouse, will be built specifically for pallets, so that we can react flexibly to short-term orders.
